Operation Romeo Deckle in Avondale, QLD

Police from Bundaberg conducted a joint operation with officers from Queensland Boating and Fisheries in Avondale today.

Operation Romeo Deckle, a traffic enforcement and education operation, was conducted from 8am to 3pm on Rosedale Road.

Local police were pleased that of the 863 roadside breath tests conducted, no drivers were found to be over the legal limit. Unfortunately of the 54 roadside drug tests conducted, three drivers returned positive tests which have now been sent off for further analysis. Several traffic infringement notices were also issued.

Compliance checks of weight and seizing of crabs were conducted by Bundaberg Fisheries officers.

With the Australia Day weekend nearly upon us, local police would like to remind the community that they will be out in force to ensure the safety of all motorists.

Police from the local Road Policing Unit, Wide Bay Tactical Crime Unit, the Drug Testing Unit, Bundaberg Dog Squad and Bundaberg Criminal Investigation Branch took part in Operation Romeo Deckle.
