Operation Sentinel Unite dances with the dragons

This week the Operation Sentinel Unite team had the pleasure of attending an evening celebrating the Leaders of Positive Change.  The night was hosted by the Multicultural Families Org in partnership with the Office of Commonwealth Games – Embracing 2018 and the QPS Gold Coast District Cross Cultural Liaison Unit.  They also had to the opportunity to celebrate diversity with the Mantas Kung Fu and Gold Coast Lion Dancers.

It was a great chance to celebrate the impact the Leaders of Positive Change are having on the community particularly in the area of changing aggressive behaviour and promoting respectful interaction between different cultures.  Changing negative attitudes and behaviour and promoting respect is a big responsibility; one for the entire Queensland community not just police.  Showing our support for the groups that are helping achieve this goal is a way for police to strengthen community relationships and help break the cycle of crime. The work these groups are undertaking is an excellent example of how the community can help police stop crime and make the community safer.

The team from Operation Sentinel Unite met some fantastic people who are committed to motivating their communities and influencing positive change with respect to abusive behaviour. The Unite team also shared their message that we are all ‘United for a safer community’.

Operation Sentient Unite continues to work with the community to reinforce the Australian National Security message ‘If it doesn’t add up, speak up’, and encourages all Queenslanders to report suspicious activity to the National Security Hotline by calling 1800 123 400.  For more information on how you can help keep Australia safe visit www.qld.gov.au/SentinelUnite.
