Operation Talon arrest man during proactive operation targeting firearm crime

A man has been arrested by Operation Talon over the alleged possession of a prohibited weapon during a proactive police operation following recent public place shootings in Sydney's south-west.

Detectives from Auburn Police Area Command are investigating after public place shootings at Berala and Regents Park yesterday (Tuesday 21 May 2019) and today (Wednesday 22 May 2019).

No one has been injured as a result of these incidents.

As part of proactive policing strategies, Operation Talon, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit and South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad, conducted a Firearm Prohibition Order search at a home unit at Berala just after 3.30pm today.

A 33-year-man was arrested at the home and taken to Auburn Police Station, where he is assisting with inquiries.

Auburn detectives are continuing inquiries into the shootings, which will be complemented by ongoing proactive policing strategies by Operation Talon.

Operation Talon is a proactive policing strategy to prevent and disrupt public act of violence, including shootings, and target the possession and supply of illicit firearms.
