Detectives have seized more than $2.5 million worth of drugs following the arrest of five people in raids predominately across north Brisbane and other suburbs over the last seven months.
Operation Victor Ludacris, led by detectives from Carseldine's Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) with assistance from Synthetic Drug Operations Unit and Australian Border Force (ABF), targeted major drug syndicates involved in the trafficking of methylamphetamine, Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GHB), and the trafficking of firearms.
Over the course of the investigation, police executed 14 search warrants throughout the North Brisbane Region, and dismantled a major drug laboratory, resulting in the seizure of $2.5 million worth of drugs including:
- 450 Kilograms of Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GBH)
- 168 Litres of 1-4 Butanediol
- 84 Litres of Hypo phosphorus acid
- 2.75 Kilograms of MDMA
- 300 grams of Methylamphetamine
- 3x Firearms
- 3x Remote Improvised Explosive devices
- 30 Kilograms of various ammunition
Officers also seized $100,000 in cash, commercial-level drug manufacturing equipment and the quantities of precursors seized would have yielded over 70 kilograms of methylamphetamine.
Since December 2023, detectives have arrested five people on a total of 74 charges.
A 35-year-old West End man has been charged with eight offences including three counts of unlawful dealing with explosives, two counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs, one count of unlawful trafficking in weapons, one count of conspiracy to commit crime, one count of possessing anything used in the commission of crime, one count of receiving property obtained from trafficking and one count of authority required to possess explosives.
He was remanded in custody and is due to reappear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 24.
A 38-year-old Carseldine woman has been charged with six offences including two counts of possessing anything used in the commission of crime, one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs, one count of receiving property obtained from trafficking, one count of authority required to possess explosives and one count of unlawful possession of weapons.
She is due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 18.
A 35-year-old Bald Hills woman has been charged with ten offences including conspiracy to commit crime, possess dangerous drugs, receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking, trafficking in dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of weapons, and unlawful supply of weapons.
She was remanded in custody and is due to reappear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 27.
A 35-year-old Zillmere man has been charged with 21 offences including trafficking in dangerous drugs and possessing dangerous drugs.
He was remanded in custody and is due to reappear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 19.
A 41-year-old Rochedale man has been charged with 25 offences including producing dangerous drugs, possess firearms, and possessing dangerous drugs.
He was remanded in custody and is due to reappear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 1.
Detective Inspector Ken Rogers said the operation has brought significant charges over the last seven months.
"Operation Victor Ludacris has seen detectives infiltrate strong drug distribution channels across north Brisbane and remove harmful drugs from our streets.
"These substances destroy lives, and their removal has a positive effect not only on innocent and vulnerable members of the public it also can help to reduce drug-induced violence and overdoses.
"Illicit drugs have no place in our community, and we will continue to do all we can to target these criminal syndicates and keep the community safe," said Detective Inspector Ken Rogers.
Investigations are continuing with more arrests likely.
