OSCE Backs Training for Montenegro Parliamentary Educators

OSCE

From 28 to 30 September, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro supported the professional development of trainers at the Parliament's Education Centre through a three-day capacity-building training on non-formal education and youth work.

The Centre is responsible for developing and delivering educational programmes that bring the Parliament of Montenegro closer to the public, with a particular focus on young people.

The training brought together educators who deliver workshops for children and young people, focusing on practical approaches they can use in their everyday work. It was tailored to their needs, identified through interviews assessing their existing competencies and areas for further professional development.

Participants explored key concepts and approaches in youth work, including its historical development, different models, ethical principles, and code of conduct. They also examined the methodological specificities of non-formal education, the learning process, the role of trainers as learning facilitators, and group dynamics. Finally, programme also covered quality standards and educator competencies, as well as the role of reflection and evaluation in improving educational activities.

Throughout the training session, participants explored practical methods and tools through simulations, experiential learning, and real-life examples, strengthening skills they can directly apply when working with young people.

By investing in the professional development of the Centre's trainers, the training programme contributes to strengthening the quality and effectiveness of its educational programmes. In turn, this will help ensure that children and young people participating in the Centre's workshops enjoy engaging, meaningful, and high-quality learning experiences.
