A vision to transform the City of Melton into one of the most liveable areas in the country, amidst its rapid population growth, was revealed at the City of Melton Advocacy Priorities Launch yesterday.
With the City's population set to triple over the next 30 years, the new Advocacy Priorities booklet identifies the community's critical and future needs and how the state and federal governments could partner with Council to deliver them.
Mayor Cr Lara Carli said she was excited about the promise of the City's future.
"We want the City of Melton to be a place people aspire to live, raise a family and run a business, and I'm thrilled to share our vision for the future," Cr Carli said.
"Shaping a City for the future is all about giving our residents a great place to live that's well connected, with a diverse offering of education opportunities and local jobs, and positive health and wellbeing outcomes."
Council's 10 priorities are aligned to five key pillars: roads, education, public transport, health and human services, and sport and recreation.
Cr Carli said the priorities seek to not only deliver on urgently needed infrastructure and services, but to create opportunities for residential development, employment, commercial investment and recreational investment.
"We have an outstanding opportunity to establish a new benchmark for growth and development, where services and infrastructure are planned and delivered in line with population growth," Cr Carli said.
"Strong collaboration is required to achieve our vision and I look forward to continuing to work together with the state and federal governments.
"The state and federal governments have played such an important role in the shaping our City already and further investment and partnerships between all levels of government will be critical in shaping a strong future."
