Thanks to the support and generosity of the WA community, our Wig Service has continued assisting West Australians impacted by cancer over the last few months via the postal service.
Given the easing of restrictions by the WA Government, our Wig Service has recommenced in-person appointments. We understand that some clients may still prefer the option of the postal service and therefore, this will continue to be offered alongside the face-to-face option.
What is the Wig Service?
In 2019, our Wig Service provided 2203 wigs, turbans, hats and scarves to 556 cancer patients.
With the help of our trained volunteers, our Wig Service offers an extensive range of wigs, turbans, beanies and scarves in a range of styles and colours. Clients can borrow these products, at no cost, for as long as required and exchange products as many times as they need while they undergo cancer treatment.
Our Wig Service has helped improve clients' self-esteem, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
"During treatment for breast cancer, losing my long hair was a huge emotional shock. Financially I could not afford a wig, so the wig library came to the rescue. I could go shopping, meet friends, and go out in public with much needed confidence. "
"Thank you for sending through the package, it is much appreciated. The colour of the wig is perfect! The cap and beanies will be great on cold days, and the instructions on how to tie scarves is especially helpful."
