Successful applicants for Round 3 of the Federal Government's 2025-26 Local Sporting Champions program have been announced.
Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce said over $9,000 in total will be distributed to 14 young people in the Flynn electorate to help cover costs of participating in local, state or national championships.
Successful applicants are from all over the Flynn electorate, including Agnes Water, Biloela, Emerald, Gin Gin, Gladstone, Gooburrum, Gracemere, Moura, Mundubbera and South Kolan.
"These successful applicants are competing or have competed in sports including Athletics, Cricket, Hockey, Motorcycling, Rugby Union, Shooting, Softball, Swimming and Volleyball," Mr Boyce said.
"The Local Sporting Champions program provides young athletes with financial assistance to help with the costs associated with competing, such as travel, accommodation and equipment.
"It's fantastic to see so many young people from across Flynn representing their communities in a wide range of sports.
"Regional athletes often face higher costs when it comes to travelling to competitions, so programs like this play an important role in helping them pursue their sporting ambitions."
Mr Boyce congratulated all successful applicants and wished them the very best in their upcoming competitions.
"I encourage young athletes across the Flynn electorate to apply for future rounds of the program if they are competing at an eligible championship level."
