A driver has lost his licence after allegedly being caught over double the speed limit, under the influence of alcohol and without his P-plates in Lalor.
Greensborough Highway Patrol officers were conducting speed checks on the Hume Freeway when they spotted the black BMW sedan speeding just before 2am on Sunday 22 March.
The vehicle was allegedly detected travelling at 205km/h in an 100km/h zone northbound between the Metropolitan Ring Road and Cooper Street.
Officers intercepted the vehicle on Cooper Street, where they found the driver had failed to display his P-plates.
The driver then returned a positive breath test at the scene.
Police did an evidentiary breath test where he later returned an alleged reading of .021.
The 22-year-old Wollert man was arrested and immediately lost his licence.
He was interviewed and charged with:
- reckless conduct endanger life
- reckless conduct endanger serious injury
- drive at speed dangerous
- exceed speed limit where a speed limit sign applies
- drive whilst exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol (.00% limit)
- exceed prescribed concentration of alcohol within 3 hours breath test drive vehicle
- drive probationary prohibited vehicle
- drive without P-plates
He was bailed to appear at Heidelberg Magistrates' Court on 10 June.
