P2 drivers street racing 45km/h over limit - Bardwell Park

A man and woman will appear in court today after allegedly street racing in Sydney's south west in January.

About 1.40am on Sunday 10 January 2021, officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol South West observed a Subaru Liberty travelling west along Camden Valley Way, Prestons, before stopping at the intersection of Bernera Road behind a Honda Prelude.

As the traffic light turned green, both vehicles allegedly accelerated down Bernera Road, with police detecting their speed to reach an estimated 120km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Police stopped both vehicles and spoke to the driver of the Subaru, a 19-year-old woman, and the driver of the Honda, a 20-year-old man – who are both P2 Provisional drivers.

Both were issued Court Attendance Notices for exceed speed limit by more than 45km/h and street racing.

The Hoxton Park woman and Bardwell Park man are due to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Wednesday 24 February 2021).
