PAC Team delivers a little sunshine

Throughout the month of April, Council Community Development team members hit the road to deliver over 280 "Sunshine Packs" to members of our Positive Ageing Centre.

An initiative designed to help keep clients connected and supported during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Packs reflected activities that members would ordinarily engage with through our regular programs, such as exercise and gardening, as well as containing jokes, quizzes, crafts, and sweet treats to brighten their day.

Staff delivered packs in person to all PAC clients, providing the added benefit of a conversation and welfare check, and all team members reported a positive reaction from every recipient across the district.

Since the deliveries took place the Positive Ageing Centre has received a string of thank you calls, with clients praising the opportunity for a chat, getting a fun activity to distract them, and requesting even more jokes. For some, the gesture brought tears to their eyes.

Recipients are clients aged over 65, who are registered with My Aged Care in our Commonwealth Home Support Program.

New registrations can be made with My Aged Care by calling 1800 200 422, completing an assessment with a Regional Assessment Service, and then being referred to Adelaide Hills Council's Social Support Group program.

Our clients participate in many amazing things throughout the Hills to keep active and connected in our community and we would love to welcome new faces.

If you have further questions about this program, please call 8408 0400 and ask to speak with our Positive Ageing Centre.
