Painkalac Creek Water Levels

Painkalac Estuary

We are closely monitoring water levels in the Painkalac Creek and rainfall forecasts, to determine the flood risk to nearby properties.

Land managers the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority can conduct an artificial opening of the estuary if the risk of properties flooding becomes too great.

While water levels in the creek are currently high, our assessment is that an artificial opening of the estuary is not yet necessary.

Small amounts of rainfall and water from the reservoir have been slowly increasing water levels and if this continues, an artificial opening will be required.

We will update the community if we decide to request an opening.
