Pair charged over alleged supply of heroin in Sydney's inner west

Two people have been charged following investigations into alleged drug supply in Sydney’s inner west, NSW Police say.

Strike Force Brearick was formed by officers from Newtown Local Area Command earlier this year to investigate the supply of heroin in Newtown and surrounding suburbs.

Following lengthy investigations, police arrested a man and woman outside a supermarket on Illawarra Road at Marrickville just before 2pm yesterday.

A search warrant was then executed at a home on Edward Street at Marrickville where detectives seized heroin and a large sum of cash.

The 46-year-old man and 27-year-old woman were taken to Newtown Police Station where they were charged with drug supply (commercial quantity) and deal with proceeds of crime.

They appeared at Newtown Local Court yesterday where they were remanded in custody to appear at Central Local Court on 23 June 2016.
