Pakenham Golf Course Management: Council Seeks Bids

Expressions of interest (EOI) are now open for the future management of the Pakenham Golf Course at Deep Creek Reserve, Pakenham.

Cardinia Shire Council has started the process to test the market and invite expressions of interest for the site's future use, including golf and alternative submissions in line with the permitted zoning.

Council is seeking expressions of interest for the long-term lease, operation and activation of the site, while responding to its broader role within the Deep Creek Reserve precinct and the region.

Respondents with the capability and vision to deliver a viable and well-considered submission for the site are invited to respond to two reference concepts. They also have the opportunity, where appropriate, to submit a preferred concept that demonstrates a stronger or more integrated approach.

This may include retaining and revitalising on-course golf offerings, reconfiguring golf to a shorter-form model, introducing complementary or alternative off-course golf, recreation, hospitality or leisure uses consistent with permitted zoning, and activating the main building and surrounding area as a well integrated destination.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Brett Owen said the EOI process would enable Council to test the market and consider a range of possibilities that align with the site's zoning and its strategic role within the Deep Creek Reserve precinct.

"We understand how important the Pakenham Golf Course is to our community, and we're excited to invite proposals that will explore opportunities for its future use," Mayor Owen said.

"We're encouraging innovative ideas that make the most of the site's natural setting, existing assets and potential to evolve into a vibrant community destination."

This opportunity includes the potential for long-term lease tenure, site activation, capital investment and improved community, recreation and leisure outcomes, subject to Council consideration and any required approvals and statutory processes.

An Information Memorandum has been prepared to introduce the opportunity and support market understanding. The formal expression of interest documentation is available through Council's procurement portal.

EOI submissions will close at 2pm (AEST) on Tuesday 12 May.
