State Emergency Services (SES) in the Sunshine Coast region today officially received $130,000 of new equipment to help them respond to natural disasters and emergencies.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford said the Caloundra, Kawana and Coolum SES groups officially received a new flood boat, outboard motor and storm damage trailers to help them deliver critical services during times of need.
"Today both the Kawana and Coolum SES groups each received new Pantech Storm Damage Trailers to allow them to continue to provide essential services to the community," Mr Crawford said.
"The Caloundra SES group received a new Swift 5.3m flood boat with a new trailer and a Suzuki 90hp outboard motor that has a combined value of almost $90,000.
"The flood boat will be named after Leading Field Operations Member Rod Bock to recognise his contributions to the SES in flood boat operations, training and maintenance throughout his long service in the region."
Mr Crawford, who was on the Sunshine Coast as part of the Palaszczuk Government's Governing from the Regions program, conducted the official hand over to SES groups from the North Coast Region and said the combined value of the new equipment was almost $130,000.
"I'm pleased to announce the equipment was funded through the SES Major Equipment Program," Mr Crawford said.
"SES volunteers dedicate a great deal of time and effort planning, preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies and I'm delighted to see their capabilities enhanced with the addition of these new assets.
"The Sunshine Coast community can feel reassured that our SES volunteers are well equipped and ready when needed."
