Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant to travel to United Arab Emirates, Oman and Lebanon

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that the Honourable Robert Oliphant, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, will visit the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.), Oman and Lebanon from November 3 to 11, 2022.

In Abu Dhabi, U.A.E, Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant will meet with senior officials to discuss key priorities and further advance work on the Canada-U.A.E. Joint Committee for Cooperation, which was established earlier this year.

Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant will then travel to Muscat, Oman, where he will meet with government representatives to explore potential partnership opportunities and advance collaboration on shared priorities, including trade and regional security.

In Beirut, Lebanon, Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant will meet with senior Lebanese officials, as well as with stakeholders and partners, to better understand the situation on the ground since the Port of Beirut explosion in 2020 and the needs of the Lebanese people in the context of the economic crisis facing the country.
