Passenger dies following two-car crash in Thornleigh

One person has died following a two-car crash in heavy rain in Thornleigh this morning, NSW Police say.

About 9:10 today (Wednesday 28 November 2018), emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash at The Esplanade, Thornleigh, and found a male passenger had died at the scene.

The drivers, also both male, have been taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition. Both will undergo mandatory blood and urine tests.

Officers from Kuring-gai Police Area Command have commenced inquiries into the crash; they are being assisted by officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol and the Crash Investigation Unit.

Both directions of The Esplanade remain closed with local traffic diversions in place.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
