Patreon declares war on Ukraine aid page

Patreon, a platform which allows people to donate to individuals and groups, has suspended the Back to Alive Foundation page and frozen $250,000 donated to the charity organization.

Come Back Alive (Повернись живим) is a Ukrainian non-governmental charity organization that helps provide livesaving wear and gear to Ukrainians resisting against Russian invasion in Donbass on the basis of crowdfunding. It's one of the biggest organizations working in this area and specializes in technical support for Ukrainians in the east of the country facing Russian aggression.

"Patreon's actions were carried out without warning, at a very difficult time for Ukraine", said Back to Alive on its Facebook page.

Ukrainian blogger, programmer and lecturer Dmytro Maleev, who previously worked at Patreon, said on Instagram that he had sent an appeal to his former colleagues.

In a televised address early on Friday Russia’s President Vladimir Putin ordered a “military operation” in Ukraine  and the Russian military has since broken through the Ukrainian state border in a number of places, in the north, south and east, including from Belarus, and shelled cities and civilian infrastructure deep inside the country.
