Pedestrian critically injured in Annerley crash

A man has sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car at Annerley this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

Preliminary information indicates two cars were involved in a collision at the intersection of Venner Road and Lagonda and Frederick streets at around 5.25pm.

The impact caused one of the vehicles to become airborne and flip. The vehicle came to rest on its roof at the corner of Venner Road and Frederick Street, colliding with a man standing at the intersection.

A 68-yer-old Annerley man was trapped under the vehicle for a period of time before being transported under police escort to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with critical injuries.

The drivers of both vehicles, a 21-year-old woman from Yeronga and a 21-year-old man from Crestmead were transported to the Mater Hospital for assessment / observation.

The woman’s passenger, a 20-year-old man from Yeronga was transported to the same hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing with officers appealing for anyone with dashcam vision, or who may have witnessed the crash, to contact them.
