Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Eastern Suburbs

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Sydney's east this afternoon.

Just after 2.30pm (Tuesday 12 February 2019), emergency services were called to the corner of Kenny Avenue and Anzac Parade at Chifley, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

The pedestrian – a man aged in his 70s – died at the scene.

The male driver was uninjured and taken to Prince Of Wales Hospital for mandatory testing.

Road closures are in place northbound from Little Bay Road to Forrest Street. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and check www.livetraffic.com for updates.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command remain at the scene and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
