A woman has died after being hit by a car in the state's north earlier this week.
About 1pm on Friday (31 October 2025), emergency services were called to a home on Dry Dock Road, Tweed Heads, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.
Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District attended to find a Mazda sedan had collided with an elderly woman causing her to fall onto the road.
The woman – aged 76 – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious head injuries before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver – a 67-year-old woman – was taken to Tweed Valley Hospital for mandatory testing.
Police have since been told the 76-year-old died yesterday (Saturday 1 November 2025).
Officers have commenced an investigation into the incident and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
