Pedestrian dies nine days after crash at Uralla

A woman has died nine days after she was hit by a vehicle at in the state's New England region.

About 7am (Monday 14 March 2022), emergency services were called to the intersection of Maitland Road and King Street, Uralla, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

Officers from New England Police District believe a van and an SUV had collided at the intersection, before one of the vehicles struck the woman who was crossing the road at the time.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 54-year-old woman at the scene for severe head injuries before she was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

Police have been told the woman died in hospital about 4pm (Wednesday 23 March 2022).

The van driver, aged 39, and the SUV driver, aged 42, were both taken to Armidale Hospital for mandatory testing.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone with information – or dashcam vision – to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
