Pedestrian hit by car at Bankstown

A woman is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Sydney's south west tonight.

Just after 6pm (Thursday 4 June 2020), emergency services were called to Oxford Avenue, Bankstown, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a Honda CRV.

The pedestrian, a 79-year-old woman, was treated at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver, a 31-year-old man, was uninjured. He was breath tested at the scene and returned a negative result; however, he has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The circumstances surrounding the incident will be investigated by officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
