Pedestrian hit by car in Fairfield

A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Sydney’s west today, NSW Police say.

About 2:45pm today, emergency services were called to Sackville Street, Fairfield, after reports a woman was hit by a vehicle.

The woman aged in her 80s sustained serious injuries and she was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital. Her injuries are not considered life threatening.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a man aged in her 50s, was taken to Fairfield hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers from Fairfield Local Area Command attended and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Local traffic diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
