Personal insolvencies fall in all capital cities in September quarter 2018

The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) released regional personal insolvency statistics for the September quarter 2018.

The numbers of new debtors decreased in the capital cities in the September quarter 2018 compared to the June quarter 2018. The number of new debtors in the Australian Capital Territory decreased.

The Greater Sydney regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Campbelltown (NSW) (71), Wyong (66) and Mount Druitt (65). In the rest of New South Wales, they were Newcastle (58), Lake Macquarie - East (39) and Tweed Valley (37).

The Greater Melbourne regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Casey - South (73), Wyndham (62) and Whittlesea - Wallan (50). In the rest of Victoria, they were Geelong (51), Ballarat (36) and Bendigo (34).

The Greater Brisbane regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Browns Plains (71), North Lakes (65) and Springfield - Redbank (62). In the rest of Queensland, they were Townsville (115), Ormeau - Oxenford (106) and Toowoomba (68).

The Greater Adelaide regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Onkaparinga (55), Playford (39) and Salisbury (37). In the rest of South Australia, they were Limestone Coast (22), Murray and Mallee (15), Eyre Peninsula and South West (13) and Fleurieu - Kangaroo Island (13).

The Greater Perth regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Wanneroo (106), Swan (85) and Rockingham (70). In the rest of Western Australia they were Bunbury (44), Wheat Belt - North (21) and Mid West (20).

The Greater Hobart regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Hobart - North West (23) and Brighton (15). In the rest of Tasmania, they were Launceston (22), Devonport (16) and North East (12).

The Greater Darwin regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Palmerston (17), Darwin Suburbs (14) and Darwin City (13). In the rest of Northern Territory, it was Alice Springs (13).

The Australian Capital Territory regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Belconnen (34), Tuggeranong (13) and Gungahlin (12).
