Perth Founders Take Out US Med-Tech Award And Tackle Opium Addiction

25th June 2018

Perth’s own technology company, Oska Wellness, has been awarded "Best New Technology Solution – Pain Management" for the MedTech Breakthrough awards in the US.

It’s great news for Perth founders, Michael and Shirley Hawker and Darren Wedge.

"We’re so excited to receive this second award from MedTech, who recognise our mission to provide non-invasive, drug-free pain management solutions that are effective", says Mr Wedge

MedTech is an independent organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in global health and medical technology and this is the second year running that Oska Wellness has landed a coveted award. In 2017, Oska Pulse was awarded "Best IoT Healthcare Wearable Device".

"This really is important global industry recognition for our young company and our flagship device, Oska Pulse", Mr Hawker goes on to say.

Oska Pulse is a safe, easy to use portable and wearable health technology device designed to reduce muscle stiffness, address chronic pain and assist with the repair and recovery from injuries.

Mimicking how the body naturally heals, Oska Pulse uses optimised pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) to restore the electrical potential cells need to receive nutrients and oxygen, which stimulates cellular regeneration—relieving pain, and activating the body’s natural recovery process.

"We’re all about people living better lives and having more freedom and Oska Pulse helps address this for people who are mostly suffering in silence and often requiring heavy painkillers and or opiates to manage pain. We want to let them know that there’s an alternative, a better way", says Mr Hawker.

"We’re having such success in the US with tackling chronic pain head on that even some of The Navy Seals use Oska Pulse as they are seeing real results with recovery from injury and chronic pain reduction."

The MedTech awards saw Oska Health go up against other health and medical technologies of which attracted some 3,000 nominations from more than 10 countries.

"We’re so thrilled for the recognition", says Mrs Hawker, "So thrilled that a little company that evolved in Perth is having such a global impact".
