Phones purchased fraudulently in Moonee Ponds

Police are appealing for public assistance to identify two thieves who obtained property by deception in Moonee Ponds last month, Victoria Police say.

The offenders used a fraudulently obtained credit card number at a phone store on Hall Street in Moonee Ponds about 7.30pm on 26 April.

Two mobile phones were purchased, with the fraudulent transaction valued at almost $3000.

Enquiries regarding how the credit card number was obtained are ongoing.

Police have released an image of two men who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

One of the men is perceived to be of African appearance and about 180-185cm tall with a medium build. He was wearing beige shorts and a black-coloured hooded jumper with ‘THRASHER’ written on it.

The other man, also perceived to be of African appearance, is believed to be about 175-180cm tall with a medium build and black beard. He was wearing white trainers, an orange polo and beige shorts.

Both men appear between 20 and 30-years-of-age.
