Pioneer Park's President's Walk to be extended

Ballarat City Council has voted to extend President's Walk in Pioneer Park, which commemorates 141 former Shire of Ballarat presidents from 1856-1994.

Plaques recognising City of Ballarat mayors since amalgamation, starting with James Coghlan in 1996, will now be included in the walk.

The plaques are mounted on stone bases and there are 37 existing stone foundations without plaques, which will be used for the new mayoral plaques.

The existing plaques indicate the year of the term of office and the mayor's name.

An information board will also be installed to explain that plaques dated before 1994 recognise Shire of Ballarat presidents prior to the City of Ballarat's formation.

The cost of the plaques and information board will be $5656.
