An official flag raising ceremony, performances by Pirritu and Isaiah Firebrace, and The Sapphires musical play live on stage will be amongst the highlights of NAIDOC Week in Brimbank this year (7-14 July 2019).

Mayor of Brimbank, Cr Lucinda Congreve said Council has planned a full program of events for NAIDOC Week in 2019.

"Brimbank's annual NAIDOC Week celebrations recognises the unique and important place Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have in our community.

"Our annual flag raising ceremony will once again be held outside of the Brimbank Community and Civic Centre in Sunshine and will include a performance by Ngiyampaa man and First Nations singer-songwriter, Pirritu (Brett Lee).

"I invite all interested community members to come along to this special ceremony in support of Brimbank's local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

"We also have some amazing performances and workshops happening, including Isaiah Firebrace: Live and Beyond, and a performance of the multiple award-winning musical play and film, The Sapphires live on stage at The Bowery Theatre.

"There will also be some fantastic workshops for children at our libraries," Cr Congreve said.
