MidCoast Council's Koala Safe Spaces team will be at Mondrook Hall on Saturday May 17 with 2,500 koala feed trees available.
Simply turn up at Mondrook Hall from 8am. There will be up to 30 trees per household available until the stock runs out, with the event winding up by 12pm.
Experts will be on hand to provide planting and care advice.
Wild Koala Day is an opportunity to remind ourselves that we all play a role in helping koalas.
Council's Manager of Natural Systems, Gerard Tuckerman said that the collective efforts of individual landholders can make an important impact on the future of koalas.
Even an urban backyard can become part of a safe corridor through which koalas and other threatened species can safely move to feed and mate.
Koalas are endangered in NSW, Queensland and the ACT. Wild koalas can still be found throughout the MidCoast. However, they are up against a wide variety of threats.
There's a role for everyone, whether it's planting habitat trees, slowing down on tree-lined roads, keeping dogs away from koalas, or reporting sick or injured koalas to your nearest koala rescue organisation.
