Platform will hook anglers

Anglers and recreational fishers will be given more access to the Goulburn River following the opening of a $199,000 two-tiered fishing platform in Seymour.

The platform will make recreational fishing easier and accessible for all people in the community.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes MP and Mitchell Shire Deputy Mayor Councillor David Atkinson officially opened the platform on Friday (13 December).

Landscaping and tree planting works are also being undertaken.

Council invested $89,000 in the project while Victorian Fisheries Authority allocated $100,000 and Regional Development Victoria assigned $10,000 to the project.

The fishing platform project is part of a broader $780,000 Seymour Better Parks initiative, a partnership with Regional Development Victoria. The wider parks project also includes amenity refurbishments at Kings Park Community Pavilion, LED lighting for the exhibition building at Kings Park, an outdoor youth space at Chittick Park and upgrades to toilets and landscaping at Goulburn Park.
