PLB activation on South Coast Track, TAS

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter today rescued a 56-year-old South Australian woman from the South Coast walking track after activating her personal location beacon, Tasmania Police say.

Around 1:00pm the woman was walking with two other people when she fell and injured her leg and shoulder.

Police were notified by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) of the PLB activation. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was activated and flew to the western end of Prion Beach, in Southern Tasmania.

The woman was transported by helicopter to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
