Plugging In To Shop Local

Bayside's electric vehicle (EV) charging network is powering up, with new upgrades and smart technology designed to make life easier for drivers and better for the local businesses they love to visit.

In partnership with leading EV charging providers, we are rolling out a stronger, smarter network across Bayside.

Jolt chargers have been in operation in Highett, Black Rock and Beaumaris for some time and recently added Cheltenham, with Sandringham joining the network soon.

In December, Evie upgraded its fast chargers at Willansby Avenue in Brighton to allow three cars to simultaneously charge.

By placing chargers close to cafés, grocery stores and retail shops, we are helping EV users top up their batteries while they shop local. This supports cleaner travel, encourages people to stay longer and strengthens the connection between our community and local traders.

While Council provides the parking space for the chargers, Council's EV charging partners maintain the infrastructure, and EV users pay for the electricity they consume, ensuring the service operates at no additional cost to ratepayers.

As more Baysiders embrace low-emissions transport, these upgrades will help our city stay accessible, environmentally responsible and future-ready.
