Police appeal after attempted carjacking at Queanbeyan

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed or have dashcam footage of an alleged attempted carjacking and assault in Queanbeyan yesterday morning.

About 5am (Thursday 17 October 2019) a 33-year-old man was driving along Monaro Street, Queanbeyan, when he was allegedly gestured to stop by an unknown man driving a small white hatchback.

The unknown man allegedly asked the other man for his keys before assaulting him with a metal bar. He then fled in his vehicle in an easterly direction.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen two males, aged between 25-30, both approximately 180cm tall, with a slim build and fair complexion as they may be able to assist police with inquiries.

A 33-year-old man was taken to Canberra Hospital with non life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident.
