Police appeal after fatal crash at Lyndhurst

Police are appealing for public assistance following a fatal single-vehicle crash in the state's central west today.

Just before 11.40am (Monday 27 May 2019), emergency services were called to the Mid Western Highway, about 5km west of Lyndhurst, after reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District attended and located a Mazda sedan which had collided with a tree, and its male driver and female passenger.

The woman was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

The man was flown to St George Hospital in a serious condition to be treated for head injuries.

The Mid Western Highway is closed in both directions as the scene is cleared. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and check Live Traffic NSW for updates.
