Police appeal after man seriously assaulted in Unanderra

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted at his home in Unanderra.

Just after 5.30pm yesterday (Saturday 12 January 2019), a 48-year-old man answered a knock on the door of his Tresnan Street home.

An unknown man confronted the occupant before repeatedly assaulting him, demanding money and other items.

He fled empty-handed and emergency services were alerted.

The man was taken to Wollongong Hospital with multiple facial fractures.

Detectives from Lake Illawarra Police District are investigating the incident and are appealing for assistance as they attempt to identify and locate the man involved.

He's described as being of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander in appearance, aged in his 30s and approximately 180cm tall.
