Police appeal after near drowning in Bulli

Police are appealing for witnesses to a near drowning at Bulli this morning to come forward and contact them, NSW Police say.

About 11.10am today (Saturday 6 January 2018), a 48-year-old man was located face down in the water about 150m from the Sandon Point Surf Club.

The man was returned to land by unknown bystanders who commenced CPR until lifeguards and NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived to take over CPR.

The man was conveyed to Wollongong Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers from Wollongong Local Area Command arrived and commenced investigations into the incident.

They would like to speak with the unknown bystanders who assisted the man from the water.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and who has not yet spoke to police should contact Wollongong Police via Crime Stoppers.
