Detectives are appealing for public assistance following the serious assault of a council ranger in Liverpool earlier this week.
Just before 12.30pm on Tuesday (9 April 2019), two council rangers were walking along Norfolk Serviceway when they were confronted by the occupants of a white Subaru WRX Impreza.
It's alleged the passenger approached one of the rangers, a 35-year-old man, and punched him to the face, causing him to fall to the ground unconscious.
Witnesses intervened before the pair fled and emergency services were alerted.
The 35-year-old man was taken to Liverpool Hospital with serious facial injuries. He is expected to undergo surgery today.
The second ranger wasn't injured.
Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the assault.
As inquiries continue, detectives have released images of a man they believe can assist with inquiries.
The man in the image is described as being of Middle Eastern / Mediterranean appearance, with short black hair. He was wearing a black 'Nike' long-sleeved top.
Police have also released an image of the vehicle the men were in at the time. Further inquiries identified the registration plate for the vehicle was fraudulent.
