Police appeal after serious crash at Rockdale

Investigators are appealing for information following a two-vehicle crash in Sydney's south, that has left a motorised scooter rider in a serious condition.

Just before 9.00pm yesterday (Friday 12 March 2021), emergency services were called to the intersection of the Princes Highway and Rockdale Plaza Drive, Rockdale, following reports of a crash between a car and a motorised scooter.

The rider of the scooter, a 20-year-old man, sustained serious head injuries and was treated at the scene, before being taken to St George Hospital in a serious condition to undergo surgery.

The driver of a Toyota Rav 4 – a 22-year-old woman – was arrested and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from St George Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Upon release from hospital, the woman was taken to Kogarah Police Station to assist investigators and has since been released pending further inquiries.
