Police appeal after two men robbed, one stabbed in separate incidents – Bexley

Police are appealing for witnesses after two men were robbed and one was stabbed in separate incidents in Sydney’s south overnight.

Just before 8pm yesterday (Thursday 9 July 2020), a 33-year-old man parked his silver Nissan Maxima on Leicester Street, Bexley, when he was approached by two men and assaulted before his mobile phone was stolen.

The 33-year-old sustained a stab wound to his left buttock and lower back, as well as bruising to his head and back.

Shortly after, a 31-year-old man parked his gold Toyota Camry on the same street, when he was approached by two males, one armed with a baton, who demanded money and his mobile phone.

Police have been told one of the males opened the driver’s door and removed the keys from the ignition before both left in a white van with the man’s phone.

Immediately after the van left, the 33-year-old man approached the 31-year-old man, stating he had also been robbed and stabbed by the same males.

The two men travelled to Canterbury Hospital in a rideshare vehicle before the older man was transferred to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for surgery to his wounds. The younger man was uninjured.

Officers attached to St George Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries continue, police are seeking witnesses or dashcam footage from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.

Police would also like to speak to two males who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The first male is described as being of Asian appearance, aged between 25 and 30, of slim build, with short black hair.

The second male is also described as being of Asian appearance, aged between 25 and 30 years, of large build, with black hair.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
