Police appeal after woman assaulted in Ultimo

Police are appealing for public assistance to identify a man following an assault in August last year.

At 3.40pm on Wednesday 21 August 2020, police were told a man approached a woman and began talking to her in the Central Station railway tunnel at Broadway.

The man followed her to a nearby university and attempted to pull her into a coffee shop by grabbing the back of her hair, before trying to give her a hug.

The woman eventually broke free and ran away, alerting police.

The man was last seen walking back through the university and towards George Street, Ultimo.

Officers attached to the Police Transport Command commenced an investigation and have released an image of a man they would like to speak to who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The man is described as being Indian Sub-Continental in appearance, aged in his mid to late twenties, with a thin build.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has information about the identity of the man, is urged to contact police.
