Police appeal for information after pursuit and fail to stop crash - Pyrmont

An investigation is underway after a stolen vehicle was involved in a pursuit with police and a fail to stop crash in Sydney's CBD overnight.

About 1.45am (Sunday 19 January 2020), officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were patrolling around Broadway when they saw a Porsche Cayenne turn onto George Street, disobeying a 'no entry' sign, and attempted to stop it on Regent Street.

The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated, travelling north along George Street before being terminated a short time later at Bathurst Street due to safety concerns.

Just before 2am, police responded to reports of an accident on the Anzac Bridge, Pyrmont.

Officers attended to find the same vehicle had been involved in a collision with a Mitsubishi Outlander in the westbound lanes before crashing into a guard rail.

The Porsche was unattended, and police have been told the occupants had all fled, flagging down a passing white dual cab utility before driving off.

The occupants of the Mitsubishi were uninjured.

The Porsche, reportedly stolen from the ACT, was seized and will undergo forensic examination.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for the utility driver to come forward and urge anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
