Police appeal for witnesses after fire at St Kilda toilet block

Detectives from Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit are appealing for public assistance following a suspicious fire at a toilet block in St Kilda on Thursday, 18 February.

Emergency services were called to Alma Park following reports of a fire about 7am.

No one was inside the block and the fire was extinguished swiftly but caused an estimated $400,000 worth of damage to the building and a local sporting club's equipment.

Police will have an information caravan set up at the scene between 6am and 8am this morning appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious.

Detectives have a particular interest in speaking with a man they have been told was walking his dog in the vicinity of the toilet block at the time of the fire and may be a witness.
