Police appeal for witnesses following Springhurst criminal damage

Wangaratta police are appealing for public assistance following criminal damage to a broken down car earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

The vehicle was left on the side of the south bound lanes of the Hume Freeway in Springhurst, one kilometre north of the Benton’s Hill rest area after experiencing mechanical issues. At this time police tape was placed around the vehicle.

Between 5.45pm on Wednesday 8 November and 7.15am Thursday 9 November police believe an unknown person or persons caused extensive damage to the vehicle by hitting the vehicle with an unknown implement, possibly a pole.

All of the side panels and bonnet were damaged and all the windows except the rear driver side window were broken.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
