La Trobe Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses following a fire at a tennis club in Newborough overnight (31 December/1 January), Victoria Police say.
It is believed an unknown person forced entry to a tennis club on Monash Way and lit a fire inside causing extensive damage.
Police believe the same person forced entry into a neighbouring premises and attempted to start a fire unsuccessfully.
Investigators are keen to speak to any witnesses and are hoping to speak to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious behaviour leading up to the fire.
