Police appeal for witnesses to St Kilda assault

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault at licenced premises in St Kilda last week, Victoria Police say.

The incident took place at the Barkly Street premises on 8 July when the victim went to the bar to watch a sporting event around midnight.

While the victim, a 30-year-old St Kilda man, was watching the screen a man walked past and bumped into him.

Several minutes later the man returned and head butted the victim before throwing punches at a number of bystanders.

The victim sustained facial injuries as a result of the assault.

The man was evicted from the bar by security staff.

Police have released an image of a man they believe can assist with their enquires.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
