Police Appeal To Locate Boy Missing From Maryland

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a boy missing from the Newcastle area.

Cooper Atkins, aged 14, was last seen in Maryland, about 9:30pm yesterday, Friday 9 January 2026.

When he failed to return home and could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Newcastle City Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Family and police hold concerns for Cooper's welfare due to his age.

Cooper is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of thin build, about 188cm tall, with short dark hair.

He was last seen wearing a "Penrith Panthers" football jersey and cap.

Cooper is known to frequent the Maryland, Fletcher and Wallsend areas.
