Police appeal to locate driver after fail to stop crash near Berry

Police are appealing for information following a fail to stop crash near Berry last night.

Just after 10.30pm (Saturday 24 April 2021), a Triton utility travelling south and a Holden Rodeo utility travelling north on the Princes Highway, Jaspers Brush, collided near the Strongs Road Overpass.

Following the initial impact, the Triton and a Mitsubishi ASX also travelling south collided, before the Triton hit a concrete barrier.

The Holden driver did not stop and drove from the scene.

The Triton driver, a 54-year-old man, suffered serious leg injuries and was airlifted to St George Hospital in a stable condition.

His passenger, a 53-year-old woman, and the Mitsubishi driver, a 20-year-old woman, were not seriously injured.

Officers from South Coast Police District established a crime scene which was examined by investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit.

A short time later, the Holden Rodeo was found unattended on North Street, Berry. It was seized for further forensic examination.

Investigations are continuing to locate the driver.
