Police are responding to fatal collision at Violet Town

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a fatal collision in Violet Town.

Emergency services were called to the Hume Freeway southbound to reports of the collision involving two trucks just after 12am on Tuesday, 17 May.

Sadly, the driver of one of the vehicles, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was flown to hospital with serious injuries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.

Traffic will be diverted from the Violet Town exit for several hours while investigators assess the scene.
