Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision which occurred in Mulgrave this evening.
Investigators believe a vehicle collided with a truck on the eastbound lanes of the Monash Freeway about 7.40pm.
The occupant of the vehicle, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
The truck driver, a 42-year-old Longwarry man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.
The investigation into the exact cause of the collision remains ongoing.
